Common measures of productivity include work output, time and face time at work, absences. Some supervisors assess productivity such as these by observation. The term proxy means to approximate the real thing. Therefore proxies of performance would be other measures of output than just those assessed by face to face observation such as client satisfaction and performance assessments by those who receive the individual's good or service.
