“The act or state of being included; a person or thing that is included” (Inclusion, 2004).

“An education policy that allows students with disabilities to be integral members of age-appropriate classrooms in neighborhood schools. In keeping with U.S. federal legislation, which requires schools to educate students with disabilities in the ‘least-restrictive environment’ possible, needed special services and supports are brought to the student in the regular classroom” (Barker, 2003, p. 212).
