“Family leave allows employees to take time off from work to care for their families, deal with an emergency or recuperate from a serious illness with a guaranteed job when they return.”

"Job- and benefit-protected leaves for working parents including maternity (birth or adoption), paternity, parental, child-rearing, care for an ill child, time to accompany a child to school for the first time, or to visit a child's school, personal leaves. May be paid or unpaid. When paid, benefit is usually included in taxable income."
