“…1938 passage…The original act specified that all hours beyond 44 per week yield an overtime premium on the wage of 50 per cent per hour. Two years later, the act was amended to make the 40 hour work week standard. That act still governs a majority of employment relations in the U.S. today…Once an individual is salaried, the overtime provisions of the act no longer apply.” (Drago, 2000, p. 213)
