WFRN Executive Office Staff

Kay Dowgun is Managing Director of the Work and Family Researchers Network (WFRN). In addition, she serves as the Managing Director of the Center for Human Resources (CHR), which is a self-funded research center at the Wharton School.  The Center’s mission is to foster research into the strategic role of human resource management in such areas as employment, labor relations, public policy, and the training and education of the workforce.  The Center supports and enhances the interaction between academics and practitioners through multidisciplinary research and regular meetings of senior HR executive membership groups. As Managing Director, Kay is responsible for the administrative operation of the CHR, for creating and implementing programs and services for the HR executive groups, and for identifying and managing ongoing donor and sponsor relationships.  The Center also organizes the annual Wharton Leadership Conference and the annual academic People & Organizations Conference, among other events.

Prior to coming to Wharton, Kay was a Senior Associate Editor at W. B. Saunders, a medical publishing company, and assistant to the director of corporate human resources at United Hospitals Inc. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in English, and has a Masters in Victorian Literature from the University of Sussex and an MBA from Temple University in Industrial Relations/Human Resources.    

 

Nancy Permsap is the Assistant Director of the Work and Family Researchers Network. In addition, she serves as the Assistant Director at the Center for Human Resources, and has worked at the Wharton School since 1998.  Nancy spent her first three years at Wharton working in the External Affairs department as an Assistant to the Executive Director during the period of Wharton’s major fundraising campaign:  The Campaign for Sustained Leadership.  She became the Coordinator for the Center for Human Resources in February 2001 and Assistant Director of the Center in 2012.  Her duties include managing the Center’s Council on Employee Relations, planning the annual People and Organizations academic conference, handling memberships for the Center's groups and working on the annual Wharton Leadership Conference, which is cohosted by the Center for Human Resources and the Center for Leadership and Change Management.

Nancy has Associate Degrees from Peirce College and Bucks County Community College.  She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School, with a dual concentration in Management and Accounting.
