Job Description: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HD FS, www.hdfs.hs.iastate.edu/) at Iowa State University invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position focused on extension and outreach scholarship and activity relevant to lifespan human development and aging with an emphasis in health and wellness (http://www.extension.iastate.edu/humansciences/). The department seeks a faculty member to translate research into practice impacting individuals, families, and communities. The faculty member will be an important member of the growing interdepartmental Gerontology Program which is comprised of 45 faculty across all colleges and offers graduate degree programs (http://www.gerontology.iastate.edu/).  

Responsibilities: The faculty member will chair interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative, evidence-informed extension and outreach products; provide subject matter support to extension and outreach staff; pursue external funding to support his/her work; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; and supervise graduate students associated with his/her extension and outreach products and projects. The faculty member will engage in scholarly work including generation of peer-reviewed journal articles and extension and outreach educational strategies, resources, and programs. Responsibilities also include teaching online and face-to-face undergraduate and graduate courses in human development and family studies and aging (one per semester). Service as a major professor for graduate students, contributions to department, college, extension and outreach, and university committees, as well as becoming involved in statewide and national activity and leadership in relevant professional organizations is expected. Required Qualification: An earned doctorate in Gerontology, Lifespan Development, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, Sociology or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Scholarly work demonstrating an emphasis on health and wellness as related to adulthood and aging; Extension and Outreach experience; a record of external funding for scholarly activities and engagement; experience teaching online and face-to-face courses.

Salary commensurate with qualifications.
